Canada has introduced major updates to its Express Entry system for 2025, focusing on attracting skilled workers, tradespeople, and healthcare professionals to address labor shortages. These changes impact job offer requirements, eligibility criteria, and LMIA regulations, making it essential for applicants to stay informed.

Key Changes in Express Entry 2025
1. Valid Job Offer Requirements
  • Must be in writing with employer details.
  • Should specify NOC code, job duties, salary, and conditions.
  • Must be full-time, non-seasonal, and last at least one year after PR approval.
  • Open work permit holders must secure a formal job offer.
2. Express Entry Sub-Programs
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program & Canadian Experience Class (FSWP & CEC)
  • Requires a full-time, paid job in NOC TEERs 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • LMIA required unless exempt.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Requires one or two job offers from Canadian employers in skilled trades (e.g., electricians, welders, carpenters).
  • LMIA required unless exempt.
  • Physicians
  • No longer need a continuous one-year job offer but remain eligible for FSWP points.
3. LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) Updates
  • Required unless:
  • Applicant has worked full-time for the employer for at least one year.
  • Job falls under international or provincial agreements.
4. Licensing & Certification Requirements
  • Regulated professions (healthcare, engineering, skilled trades) require provincial certification.
5. Improving Express Entry Scores
  • Gain work experience in high-demand fields.
  • Improve language proficiency (English/French).
  • Obtain additional education or credential assessments.
  • Secure a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
Final Thoughts

These updates aim to streamline Canada’s immigration system while ensuring skilled professionals fill labor market gaps. Applicants should prepare early, secure job offers, and meet licensing requirements to boost their chances of permanent residency.
